What is a true “full-gospel”
church?
For years I heard the term “full gospel church” and pondered what was meant by those words in promoting a church. I studied the scriptures and realized that Jesus made it very plain in what He commissioned his disciples to do. Not complicated in any way.
MATT 10:1-8 (a) go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel
(b) preach the Kingdom of heaven
(c) heal the sick
(d) cleanse the lepers
(e) cast out demons
MARK 6:7-13 (a) authority over unclean spirits
(b) people should repent
(c) cast out many demons
(d) anoint the sick with oil and heal
MARK 16:15-18 (a) preach the gospel
(b) cast out demons
(c) speak with new tongues
(d) lay hands on sick
LUKE 4:18 (a) preach the gospel
(b) proclaim release (freedom) to captives
(c) recover sight for the blind ( heal )
(d) set free the oppressed (deliverance )
LUKE 9:1-2 (a) power and authority over the demons
(b) heal diseases
(c) proclaim kingdom of God
Jesus’ instruction is very clear concerning the foundational basics to be called a “full gospel” ministry…(1) Preach the gospel (good news) of the Kingdom of God…(2) Heal the sick and (3) Cast out demons. If any of these 3 are not practiced the ministry is not “full-gospel” according to scripture.
God warns about tampering with His instructions in REV 22:18-19 “…if anyone adds… if anyone takes away….” DEUT 4:2 “…shall not add…nor take away from…” PROV 30:5-6 ”…Every word of God….Do not add to His words…”
ACTS 2:42 reveals 4 simple basics of the early church and how they worshipped… Apostles’ teachings, fellowship (assembling together), eating meals together and praying.
Paul gives further instructions in 1 COR 14:26 about simplicity in worship services. “When you assemble, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, an interpretation. Doing all for edification.”
God is seeking people who will be obedient to Him in all things…for “obedience is better than sacrifice” ( 1 SAM 15:22 ) God provides a simple, orderly, meaningful and rewarding way to worship Him. It is not complicated or difficult, but is pleasing to Him when done His way. God is sovereign in all things and He has given clear instructions in His word how He wants worship to be.
Is the gospel of the kingdom being preached?
Are the sick being anointed and prayed for to be healed?
Are demons being cast out in “Jesus’ name” setting people free?
If these 3 God-given instructions from Jesus are being faithfully done then the church is truly “full gospel”. The Lord’s blessings flow to the obedient.
